Industrial Pollution and Chemicals

June 4th, 2010 — 7:03am

We’ve made it to the 21st century and we’re still extremely dependent on petro-chemicals for all our needs. They’re detrimental to personal and planetary health. At the rate we’re going we won’t have a planet for future generations and the air won’t be healthy enough to breathe.

Today was a perfect day to go out and get some air and some sunshine. Every morning I’m blessed to wake up to the rising sun and feel its grace and warmth and beauty as I begin my day. Although I spend most of my day working on the computer and the Internet I always make sure that I spend at least 10-15 minutes throughout the day cleansing my mind and filling my lungs with fresh air. However, that is becoming more and more difficult to do. This afternoon I stepped out into the luscious green back yard to enjoy the birds and warm sunshine and stretch my muscles a bit. The Future of Music

May 12th, 2010 — 10:24am

The vaunted future of music is a favorite topic with critics. Here we raise the possibility that a turning point has been reached.

If you’re less than 30 pounds overweight, you should really be worried only if you have two or more risk factors such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and the “apple” body shape when fat is all gathered around your middle.

Antioxidants and Free Radicals

March 29th, 2010 — 9:27am

It is known that smoking produces free radicals in the body. Find out more about what these are and how they’re related to antioxidants.

Oxygen may be hazardous to your health. We can’t live without oxygen, of course. But just as exposure to oxygen causes iron to rust and butter to go rancid, it can wreak it’s own havoc in the body.

Free radicals are the culprits. They are created every minute in our bodies. To provide energy, the body’s cells use oxygen to burn fuels and in the process, some oxygen molecules may lose an electron, thus creating a free radical. There’s no problem when these free radicals are captured and inactivated by the body’s own army of antioxidants.

Peter’s Pickled Peppers

February 23rd, 2010 — 9:29am

Let’s take a look at a male rite of passage gaining popularity around the world. In some places like Andhra Pradesh, daily consumption of hot chilies is taken for granted. But the latest challenge to manhood, as Chase Michal tells us, is scorching good fun.
