NCWO and other Women’s groups call for Constitutional Amendment to have only ONE Syariah Law for Muslim Families
The National Council of Women’s Organisations (NCWO) representing more than 100 affiliated organisations and several other women’s groups call on the Government to amend the Federal Constitution to establish federal jurisdiction over Islamic Family Law. The aim is to ensure that all Muslims are subjected to the same Islamic Law and same standards of justice wherever they may reside. The amendments that are called for have two objectives: · to grant the Federal Parliament the power to enact and amend Islamic Family Laws and regulations and · to ensure continuance of the administration and implementation of Islamic Family Law by the State Governments under the power of the Rulers.

Weekly Horoscope with a Twist

All those faint of heart should plan to stay in and play checkers this Halloween. The coming week is full of aspects, including the Full Moon and the notorious opposition between Saturn and Pluto (see my Notes on the Saturn/Pluto Opposition from August.)

The week kicks off with a rather troublesome aspect: a Sun/Neptune square, exact on Monday at 4:31 a.m. While some individuals will find this aspect creatively or spiritually inspiring, many others will simply feel lost at sea, unmotivated, or full of sadness. Regardless of your sign, be very careful regarding your self-identity, for under a Sun/Neptune square it is likely that you will perceive yourself with a distorted lens. This distortion could, however, come in handy in choosing a Halloween costume! Also, be equally careful regarding other people under this aspect, especially those who are into mind control or who claim to be spiritually advanced saints while depleting your bank account to further their holy cause. False gurus and religious fanatics will have a field day on the Sun/Neptune square.

According to a review article published in Lancet, over forty double-blind controlled trials had evaluated the benefits of ginkgo in “cerebral insufficiency” (dementia) prior to 1992 . Of these, eight were rated of good quality, involving a total of about 1,000 patients, and producing positive results in all but one study. The Lancet article’s authors felt that from this evidence it was possible to conclude that ginkgo extract is an effective treatment for cerebral insufficiency. Continue reading »
