Soma is a skeletal muscle relaxer that acts centrally, but it does not actually ease the tension in skeletal muscles. Instead, its sedative abilities help to decrease severe muscle spasms.
Typically, Soma is a component of a larger pain-management plan, used in conjunction with rest, physical therapy, and other methods for reducing pain caused by acute musculoskeletal conditions. Patients who have experienced acute porphyria or are allergic to carisoprodol- or meprobamate- related compounds may not be able to take Soma.
As is the case with all prescriptions drugs, there are some risks associated with the use of Soma. First and foremost, patients must be made aware that Soma can have a sedative effect, impairing their ability to drive or operate equipment. Caution should be used when engaging in these activities until it’s fully known how the drug will affect the user.
With the use of Soma, there is a risk of developing a dependency. Extreme care should be taken in prescribing Soma for individuals who have a history of problems with substance abuse. Patients have also reported severe weakness, dizziness, temporary vision loss, agitation, confusion, and disorientation while taking this medication. Typically, an abatement of symptoms will be seen within several hours, though the patient may need to be hospitalized for a short time to help manage their side effects.

Surely most doctors are genuinely concerned with their patients’ welfare, but that is not always the case. Of course, not all bad doctors were always bad. Sometimes they become bad over time due to heavy work load and too many patients. It doesn’t matter how your bad doctor became bad. You and your family deserve to be seen by the best. Here are a few things you should be on the lookout for to determine if you are dealing with a bad doctor.
Poor communication.
A lack of communication should send up all kinds of warning signs for you. Open communication between patient and doctor is extremely important. It is the only way to be sure you are truly getting the medical care you need. Talking about your symptoms and discussing your questions with you is the job of a good doctor. If it seems your doctor thinks he knows what you are planning to say and won’t let you finish your sentences, you may be dealing with a bad doctor. When that happens, medical problems may be misdiagnosed, or worse, go unnoticed. Regardless of how busy your doctor may be, he or she should always be able to listen to you and ask you questions regarding your symptoms.
His only answer is to write a prescription.
A bad doctor may just write you a prescription and never give a thought to natural solutions or alternative medicines. Because of this, you may miss out on a safer option. Of course prescription medications are an important part of modern medicine; however, they should not be the first and only solution your doctor ever offers. A simple lifestyle change may be all it takes to treat some problems, like mildly elevated blood pressure. Be sure your doctor tells you about all the possibilities before you accept a prescription medication.
